To contribute to the ongoing vitality and development of Locarno Film Festival, the Professor for the Future of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts leads programs and initiatives for exploring continuous changes in cinema in relation to technological and societal transformation. Two keystone activities exemplify this mission:

- The annual Future of Cinema Conference  convenes film artists and researchers to explore the present and future of moving-image culture. 

- The REAL Academy is an accredited program that provides emerging practitioners and scholars hands-on engagement with the evolving dynamics of non-fiction cinema within the Locarno ecosystem.
