Peking Opera Blues

To be honest, I am resistant to what I perceive as the crudity of production in Hong Kong movies or it could just be that I watched a bad video copy.  Or perhaps I’m resistant to the way of viewing this genre of action film.  What I could appreciate was the great Garbo-esque presence of Brigitte Lin as the General’s daughter caught between filial devotion and nationalism.  A couple of unbelievable stunts at the end of the movie, testifying to Tsui Hark’s abilities... but I'm let down by a general lack of impressive action sequences on the whole.
