dizzying, intense, ingeniously structured The movie that launched a thousand theories (half of them feminist) remains one of the most unlikely and amazing films to come out of hollywood, a bastion of the auteur theory. this film is hitchcock at his most quintessential, even confessional.

Rather involuntarily, I have either seen or discussed this film at one point or other with the three most influential women in my life: my mother, my girlfriend and my ex-girlfriend. most infI debated with my girlfriend over whether this film was surrealist or not. She just though it was creative. I remember my ex seeing this movie and saying she was very disturbed by it, and left it at that. delightful
