THE DOLLAR FIGURES EXPLAINED

For some time I debated whether to include a rating system for my reviews (making my appraisals more accessible vs. cheapening my hard-thought opinions with hard numbers). Thanks to the wonders of Java technology, I can have my cake and eat it too. If you, like me, hate numeric reviews of films, simply ignore the dollar signs. If you can't live without a simplified rating system, well, I've come up with the best representation of what numeric ratings are really all about.

This rating system is somewhat inspired by Rough-Cut.com, but I've raised the maximum price I'm willing to pay for a film to $10 instead of $7.50 (These are New York prices we're talking about):

$10-$8: A must-see
$7-$6: Worth an evening at the movies
$5-$4: Matinee or Video: Only if you have a special interest
$3-$2: Video only so you can search through the crap to find the one interesting thing about it(can you find it?)
$1-$0: Buy bubblegum instead
