screen capture of the week:
PICKUP ON SOUTH STREET (1952) - This is a busier composition than what you might usually get with Fuller -- Thelma Ritter draped by those tacky ties (her livelihood along with ratting on friends) and the record player spinning her funeral song as she eyes her executioner. Fairly gaudy (don't you love the lampshade?) and yet so lovingly composed; it's as great a death scene as any character could ask for.
