GASLIGHT (1944) - at this precocious age Ingrid Bergman had already mastered the helpless innocent ingenue look, the kind that wins over audiences and Oscars. Basically she out-Joan Fontaine-d Joan Fontaine. Thank God she would later find Rossellini, who would ruthlessly strip away all the little tricks and facial expressions she had built up around herself.
